Gosh we love proposal shoots. The combination of scouting new beautiful locations, coming up with secret signals, plotting the sun angle on maps, hiding in bushes, studying tide charts, and sending sneaky text messages to coordinate locations really speaks to our adventure-and-planning-loving hearts.
When Nathan reached out about a sunrise proposal session in Acadia, we were so excited. Sometimes people will ask us about “sunrise” shoots not realizing sunrise here is usually pre-5am in the spring/summer. Not only was Nathan undeterred by the early arrival time, he was psyched to see the park in the uncrowded early hours, and we knew the photos would be stunning at that time.
After some discussion about some of our favorite sunrise spots that wouldn’t be too crowded or trickier to get to in the dark, we settled on this lesser known corner of the park near the Ocean Path. We didn’t want their moment ruined by dozens of other sunrise-seeking park visitors, so we sent Nathan carefully laid out instructions for how to get to this more private spot where they could plant themselves and wait for the sun to rise.
Nathan and Jackie couldn’t see Brian in the hiding spot in the bushes across the beach - thanks, zoom lenses :) - but Nathan trusted Brian was there and ready (he was!), and as the sun rose he asked the big question… timing it perfectly!
Jackie was surprised (and said yes!), the sky kept changing to even more beautiful shades of oranges and pinks, and they were able to enjoy this special moment without annoyingly close camera clicks or other tourists in the area.
After giving them a few minutes to enjoy their moment, Brian emerged from the bushes to wave a congratulations and met them to do some engagement photos in the beautiful early morning light.
They even snuck in a show of VT pride :)
Congrats again to this wonderful couple, and thank you for trusting us to capture this beautiful moment!
